Patrice Dennis—Dyson is a dedicated, community-driven philanthropist who has devoted more than 20 years to serving children, families, and vulnerable populations. Her work is not only professional — it is deeply personal. Having lost family members to HIV/AIDS and substance use, Patrice’s commitment to advocacy, prevention, and recovery support is rooted in lived experience. These losses strengthened her resolve to ensure that individuals and families facing hardship are met with compassion, structure, and meaningful resources.
Patrice served with distinction at the U.S. Department of Justice, including the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), where she worked as a Grant Writer and Administrative Executive. In this capacity, she developed extensive expertise in federal grant management, compliance, program development, and community-based public safety initiatives. Her work supported law enforcement agencies nationwide and helped strengthen collaborative partnerships between justice systems and the communities they serve. This experience equipped her with a deep understanding of systems-level change, accountability, and sustainable program design.
Her passion for children and families led her to found, own, and direct two schools in Charles County, Maryland. As an educational leader, she created nurturing learning environments focused on developmental growth, structure, and family engagement. Through this work, she witnessed firsthand how economic hardship, trauma, and limited access to services affect children’s outcomes — reinforcing her commitment to holistic family support.
Patrice currently serves as the Charles County Detention Center Re-entry Coordinator, where she assists individuals transitioning from incarceration with obtaining identification documents, accessing Medicaid and food assistance, connecting to behavioral health services, and receiving structured case management support to promote long-term stability and success.
As the Founder of the Heart House of Palmer Alliance, Patrice seamlessly integrates her federal justice experience, educational leadership, behavioral health partnerships, and grassroots activism to provide comprehensive case management services to families across Maryland. The organization addresses re-entry challenges, food insecurity, mental health needs, and family stabilization through collaborative partnerships with behavioral health professionals and community stakeholders.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Patrice has been married for 30 years and has raised eight successful children — a testament to her leadership, resilience, and deep commitment to family. Her personal and professional journey reflects strength, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to building stronger communities and empowering the next generation.
